When I first embarked on World's Toughest Mudder in 2012 I knew my biggest obstacle would be the cold. 24 Hours I could do, obstacles I could do, the cold - not so. I invested in a great quality wetsuit, however my main concern was my hands and feet.
I have Raynaud's Phenomenon; excessively reduced blood flow in the fingers and toes in response to cold. Not too handy when you are an obstacle racer where hand dexterity is quite vital.
Gloves were no good to me as I needed the warmth from my hands to heat my fingers. I also knew gloves would become a bother when gripping obstacles....especially if using thick neoprene gloves which become near impossible to put back on once you take them off. I needed something that helped me retain heat whilst wet and allowed my fingers and hands to be in contact with my surrounds to allow maximum dexterity for grip based obstacles.
So began my journey of creating the 'BleggMit'.

BleggMitts are made of Neoprene which keep hands warm wet or dry, but more importantly very effective when wet. They are snug fitting and allow fingers to warm from the heat of your hands. They have an overlapped split of fabric down the front which allows you to pull your hand out when doing an obstacle and then retract it inside the mitt again to re-heat the hand while running.
I have used them during four World's Toughest Mudders and they were effective even at temperatures below freezing.
I have also used them in an eight hour snow obstacle race where I kept little hand warmers in them to add an extra heat source for my hands.
Many obstacle races are held at early dawn so temperatures can be quite cold. I often start the races wearing the mitts so my hands are warm. If the hands heat up to much I can just pull them out.
In winter I grab these mitts out for my early morning runs too. They are perfect, especially in storms and on rainy or windy days.
I've kept these beauties to myself for far too long, time to spread the love!
Thank you for ordering from BleggMit
